Welcome to Lloyd Preparatory School

At Lloyd Preparatory School, we are more than an educational institution — we are a transformative movement in culturally grounded, rhythm-based education. Since our founding in 2009, Lloyd Prep has reimagined how students learn, grow, and lead. Rooted in equity, spiritual discernment, and cultural restoration, our work is guided by two original frameworks developed on-site: the CADENCE® Learning Framework and the 15:30 Harmony™ Model. These frameworks set us apart as a micro-school committed to building not just scholars — but thinkers, leaders, and changemakers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a liberatory, restorative, and academically rigorous experience for students and families historically underserved by traditional systems. We believe in partnership-driven education, where parents are co-educators and students are co-authors of their academic journey. Our school exists not to replicate the system, but to heal, redesign, and nurture new possibilities through a covenant of culture, clarity, and care.

Our Signature Learning Frameworks

Lloyd Prep operates through the CADENCE® Learning Framework (Culturally-Anchored Design for Equitable Nurture, Curriculum, and Empowerment), which affirms that students deserve more than access — they deserve alignment with their cultural identities, emotional wellness, and spiritual purpose.

This is supported by the 15:30 Harmony™ Model, a rhythm-based operational design that structures learning cohorts into 15 students across 30-day rotations, allowing for deep care, restorative pacing, and individualized attention.

These frameworks were developed by our founder, Rev. Dr. C. Lloyd Newton, and have been featured in scholarly white papers, case studies, and national conversations on educational justice and micro-school innovation.

Hybrid Learning, Rooted in Relationship

Our acclaimed 80/20 Hybrid Model blends asynchronous digital learning with in-person mentorship and community-based engagement. We leverage innovation without losing the human touch. Classes are grounded in project-based inquiry, Afro-diasporic perspectives, spiritual reflection, and civic responsibility.

Academic Excellence with a Soul

Lloyd Prep offers a rigorous and relevant curriculum that meets and exceeds Florida Department of Education standards. Students have access to Advanced Placement (AP) coursework, college preparatory electives, and culturally responsive modules in history, literature, science, economics, theology, and the arts.

Our assessments include national normed tools like the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT10), and are complemented by performance-based tasks that reflect students’ lived experiences and local realities.

An Inclusive and Culturally Rooted Community

Diversity is not just celebrated at Lloyd Prep — it is foundational. Our classrooms reflect the beauty, complexity, and brilliance of our students’ identities. Through restorative discipline, affirming pedagogy, and communal rhythms, we create spaces where all learners are respected, seen, and nurtured.

Join Our Educational Renaissance

At Lloyd Prep, school is not a factory — it is a sanctuary of scholarship and spirit. We invite families who believe that education should honor culture, restore dignity, and prepare students to walk confidently in the world.

We are not preparing students for the test — we are preparing them for the call on their lives.

Contact us today to join the Lloyd Prep family — and become part of a rhythm-driven revolution in learning.

Together, we rise with CADENCE®.
