Academic Life at Lloyd Preparatory School
Rooted in Rhythm. Grounded in Excellence. Designed for Transformation.
At Lloyd Prep, academics are not a checklist — they are a covenant. Learning here is designed to nourish the whole student: intellectually, culturally, spiritually, and civically. Our instructional approach is guided by the CADENCE® Learning Framework and operationalized through our 15:30 Harmony™ model, creating an educational rhythm that allows students to grow without burnout and achieve without assimilation.
We are proud to offer a rigorous, culturally relevant curriculum grounded in Florida Department of Education standards and enriched by global perspectives, Afro-diasporic contributions, and project-based inquiry.
🎓 A Curriculum That Honors Culture and Expands Capacity
Our academic program blends traditional rigor with contemporary relevance:
-
Core courses in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Theology
-
Weekly advisory focused on identity development, leadership, and wellness
-
Integrated units on food justice, financial literacy, literature of the African Diaspora, and civic engagement
-
Spiritual and ethical reflection embedded throughout the year
Lloyd Prep students complete quarterly capstone projects that demonstrate mastery across disciplines and connect learning to real-world application.
🔁 The 80/20 Hybrid Model: Learning Without Limits
Our hybrid model combines 80% virtual learning with 20% in-person engagement in rhythm-based weekly cohorts:
-
In-person classes take place twice weekly in small groups (15 students max), allowing deep academic mentorship and cultural affirmation.
-
Online learning is supported by daily teacher check-ins, interactive modules, and customized pacing plans.
-
Fridays are reserved for student-led conferences, family check-ins, and reflective practice.
This flexible, restorative model enables students to take ownership of their learning without sacrificing structure or accountability.
